Ten years ago most people would have drawn a blank at the mention of BASE jumping, a fringe extreme sport that involves throwing one’s self from cliffs and buildings with a parachute. Today, even those in their Golden Years are familiar with the sport, and might even be familiar with some of the technical terminology. But BASE jumping will forever remain primarily a novelty activity due to its high risk and limited accessibility. For those individuals with the desire to participate in such an intense activity more than vicariously through the rare few willing to risk their lives, there is a new sport on the verge of exploding. It’s called Speed Flying and although far safer than BASE jumping, the adrenaline factor is only one notch less.
Speed Flying is in its infancy now, but like many adventure sports before it, is quickly gaining traction as a familiar sport to the masses. This traction is building in a form beyond the typical flood of online videos however; mainstream individuals are actually participating in it. Most likely you are wondering what exactly this hot new sport is, and maybe even how you might get involved. Read on to be enlightened.
The sport is simple: a participant hikes up a mountain with a small and light fabric wing packed on their back, inflates and launches from a suitable patch of clear ground, then screams down the mountain at breakneck speeds, slaloming through natural terrain features on the way down. The thought of this either excites you or scares you, or both. For those that find themselves immediately drifting toward the scared side of the spectrum, it should be noted that the thought of this activity is more frightening than actually doing it. Like with anything else, knowledge replaces mystery, which is the root of most fear. Let’s dispel some of the mystery of Speed Flying.
A combination of skydiving, paragliding and BASE jumping, it would seem Speed Flying should be more dangerous than any one of these other sports. But the beauty is that it shares the most exciting aspects of each activity, but not the high risk elements. For example, it shares with BASE jumping the intense anticipation of standing at the edge of a cliff or mountain preparing to jump, but does not share the high risk aspect of depending upon a perfect parachute opening to survive. In common with paragliding is a high performance wing that creates a true pilot out of its operator, but with a much more rigid airfoil that nearly eliminates the risk of collapse associated with a paragliding wing. Like skydiving, it is possible to make multiple flights in a day, but at one-fifth the cost (thus reducing the risk to one’s financial well-being).
It might seem like a sport of this nature would take weeks or months to learn, but in reality an individual can go from zero experience to proficient in a few days time, without needing to take any “leaps of faith”. First flights are on a large wing from a bunny hill, gaining only a few feet of altitude for less than 10 seconds. Within an hour, a student can be flying from 200 feet, and by the end of the day, flights from over 500 feet are possible. All the while, wing size will be gradually stepped down from Sedan to Coupe. Over the following days, the safe transition to sports car will be the goal. At this point in the training, a student will have a good feel for what type of flying they enjoy, and can focus their learning objectives toward that end. Some individuals will want to rip down the mountain as fast as possible, while others will prefer “boozy cruisy” flights at speeds much faster than a paraglider, but not so fast that the scenery cannot be enjoyed. There is something for everybody.
As is always the case with any new endeavor, taking the first step is the hardest. In this instance, that step is making a quick phone call or sending a short email to a local Speed Flying school. Be prepared though, taking this initiative will very likely result in adding an element of excitement to your life that will have you quickly shifting your priorities. Get ready for the ride of your life.

Rubio Surfboards guide to the perfect beginners surfboard
If you’re not sure about which surfboard will work the best for you, be sure to Check out our beginner surfing guides. There is plenty of helpful information on all of the boards we stock, in addition to we have a size chart to make certain the board will float and perform just the way you want. Rubio surfboards will make your surfing experience stand out.
When I first started surfing I was riding a board that was too small, too thin, and not for the type of waves I was surfing. This made me indifferent to the sport of surfing… that was 10 years ago; today I can ride a door, if that’s all I had. Now the amount of love I have for surfing is unexplainable. This was like night and day picking the right board will change your whole experience and prospective on surfing. The reason I say this is because you yourself know your surfing ability better then anyone. If you are just starting out there is nothing wrong with getting a thicker, longer, wider board to start. We have always followed the principle that beginning surfers need the right board for them. If you would tell me hey Chris!! I just started surfing. What kind of board should I ride? If you’re a beginner, choosing the right board is simple and easy. You only need to think about catching waves at this point, and increasing your wave count. So don’t worry about different, complex, or just plain strange designs. Instead, just think and concentrate on getting the correct size for your size and weight. The more you surf the better you will get and the more goals you can set. There are different mindsets and goals that you may have in your mind. Your goal might be to maneuver more, smooth turns, easy drops but you still want to perform and grow into your board I would recommend a egg or pill shaped board. Another board that will work as well is a mini longboard. These types of boards will allow you to turn faster and catch the same amount of waves as the traditional longboard.
In order to maximize your surfing potential and fun, your board must fit you just like a jacket or shoe if you buy it too small you will be uncomfortable walking around the streets. The same thing goes for your surfboard. If your goal is to paddle out to the line up quicker then the rest, early wave entry, more forgiving, and more waves, a longboard is for you if your goal is to stand up and ride a wave as soon as possible, the long board will usually get you up and riding within the first few hours. Most of the new surfers that I come across wants to copy the pros, that’s great but you are not the pro, all the pros did not jump on a 5’8″ high performance short board as there first board. You have to learn to crawl before you run and believe me I wanted to jump on the 5’8 too soon and I ended up just wasted my time and money. Once you get more advanced there are other dimensions and design elements to learn about including outline, rocker, vee, concave, fin placement, fin template, and rail shape. But you have to start with the basics first As a beginner I do not recommend the short boards even though they are generally more maneuverable on a wave they have the disadvantage of a slower paddle speed, making it more difficult for a beginner to take off on a wave. With a small board you have to take-off on the steepest part of a wave and get to your feet quickly. For most beginners taking off is the most frustrating part, because you have to have the perfect timing. To make a long story short if I would have started out with an 8’0″-9″0 board it would have made my surfing experience better. I had to learn the hard way 10 years ago but the process was a learning process. I hope this helped out if you need some more info feel free to message me check me out on Rubio surfboards. Have fun and be safe out there know your limits and respect your surrounding surfers.

Rally driving sports begun way back around 1894 in France. In 1911, the first rally in Monte Carlo was run and after that, the reputations of this kind of race just exploded. Rallying is unique because the drivers do not use a way. Instead, they utilize roads that the general public uses. Some rallies are organized on non-traffic roads because of the very high speeds. Additional are run beside with normal traffic. The latter races test how well the driver can continue with the time and find the way through cities and towns.
Rally driving is now a truly big enterprise. what previously was a sport just for the enjoyment of it and for bragging privileges is now pulling in high-profile racers and mega-money. Many automobile firms manufactre limited edition rally-ready cars. These could have either the powerful turbo-drive engine or the V8 engine. This suggests that automobiles can truly come into action! There are also racing teams that assist with the operation of the rally cars. Due to the increased price of course driving in the rally races, not to mention the risks of some of the trails, a lot of running have been cut. However that hasn’t halted the growth of the sport at all.
Another way that rallying has become very popular is that individuals who have no training in this type of driving like to get the involvement of it. Rally Driving Sydney provides only that. A prospective driver has the option to select the ‘package’ that he or she wishes and then the enjoyment begins. Drivign mentors come with student drivers to educate them how to handle the cars. There are various factors that are different about rally sports cars that most people won’t just be familiar with, so appropriate direction is necessary, if not vital. Following the training, the student can take control the vehicle and be satisfied with super-fast acceleration that are normally forbidden!v
Driving institutions like Rally Driving Sydney are breaking a bill on the increasing demand for these experiences. Driving offers can be rather immense, however there are price variations for the various options that are made ready. Few choices are an hourly session, a half-day, and a whole day. With some institutions, you can select the terrain you want to drive on and with majority of them you can choose which vehicle you operate. Sometimes, you even able to operate many vehicles! It’s a fun and interesting encounter that a lot of people would not get to experience without these schools.
