Team GB is getting themselves well organized for the games and intends on representing our country buy being the best they can be. However a lot of speculation has come forward that the cycling team will not win as much as they had hoped.
In 2008 at the Beijing Olympics, the British team won 8 gold medals for their efforts in the games. Cyclists Chris Hoy, Mark Cavendish, Victoria Pendleton and Bradley Wiggins will all be taking part in the London 2012 Olympics and hoping to achieve their dream gold medals. The change in the games however may mean that their hopes of glory are dashed and that their gold medals will not even be achievable.
Winning on home soil means a lot to these competitors and now their dreams of gold in London next year are becoming more and more unlikely. The team has spoken about this statement and they are sure that their efforts to succeed at the Olympics next year will be rewarded and they are practising their skills and putting the time in to be the very best that they can be.

Olympic Winners, How 5 Old School Olympic Winners Have Set The Mark For Our Current Heroes. And you know that Tradition always set the mark and forge paths for new ones to follow. But without the Old School Players of any game, who had life hard, who had little technology and very little supplements as well, we could never enjoy new records and greater players. Because in order for us to consider something great, we have to have a previous record to match it against. And when it comes to Olympic Winners, The Old Timers Gave our Current Athletes a run for their money, as I am about to show you.
So Today we will look at 5 different Olympic Winners, all with different Attributes. And yet all have set Olympic records to astonish us. And you do know as well Fellow Athlete, that the Olympic Games is the ultimate place where you cant test and prove how great you are against the other 7 billion humans, who all send their best to beat you. Also the things that we do now in this Universal Physical Dimension will echo throughout Eternity, and once it’s in the books it is done ( Good Or Bad .)
At First We Have Mr. Paavo Nurmi:
Mr. Paavo Nurmi was a participant in the Olympic Games of 1924 and he was a Long – Distance Runner In the 500 and 5000 Meters. And on July 10 1924, Mr. Nurmi not only won both races But he set 2 Olympic Records in the process. Here is How: The races were 50 minute apart, and Mr. Nurmi won the 1500 Meters in 3:53.6, one second off his previous world record. And rather than stay and enjoy the cheers, he ran straight to the locker room to go eat some dry fish and rest because remember in less than an hour’s time he had to go run 5000 meters. To Note, Mr. Nurmi had a habit of checking his Stopwatch to make sure he was on target after 75% of the race, and if he is on point he would just toss away the stopwatch into the crowds and take off like a Speed Blazer. And in the 5000 Meters race, he was still in tip top shape and won by beating his opponent by a yard to come in at 14:31.2. So 2 Olympic Gold Medals.
Second we have Mr. Bob Mathias:
Mr. Bob Mathias Won The Olympic Decathlon At Age 17. And let me tell you have to be a Beast in order for you to compete in the Decathlon Events, Because you have To run the 100 Meters, the 400 Meters, the 1500 Meters, the 110 Meter Hurdles, the Broad Jump, the High Jump, The Pole Vault, The Weight Event, The Shot Put And The Disk Hurler….. Whewww!, I am already tired just explaining all this. And back in 1948 in the Olympic Games, Mr. Mathias Shined like no other, and that was most unexpected because For he had never done these things before. And it all started as a suggestion from his high school coach to try out for the Olympic Team just so he could get some experience. But Young Mr. Mathias was strong, willing and very competitive and just like the rest of us who is walking into our destiny – It was the right time and the right place. And so on his first try he beat out all the local Pros and he entered the U.S. Championship and won, then of course he entered The Olympics: There He won all events above in great timely fashion.
Olympic Winners, How 5 Old School Olympic Winners Have Set The Mark For Our Current Heroes. In Third We Have Mrs. Fanny Blankers – Koen:
Mrs. Fanny Blankers – Koen participated in the 1948 Olympics in London, at the Wembley Stadium. She was a great Wife and had 2 young children and was ready to show off her skills at the Games. And when the gun went off, she took off like a cheetah and she won the 100 meter in 11.9 seconds. The she ran the 200 Meter in 24.4 seconds. Afterward in the 80 meter Hurdles, she set an Olympic Record of 11.2 seconds. But wait there is more, She also ran the 400 Meter Team Relay and they won as well. So Mrs. Fanny Blankers – Koen won 4 Olympic Gold Medals within a week. Also to note that back then they only allowed Female Athletes to enter only 3 individual Events, for fear of damaging the woman body, but she was also at her best in the Broad Jump and The High Jump…
Fourthly, Mr. Ray Ewry Won 10 Olympic Gold Medals:
Mr. Ray Ewry grew up in Lafayette Indiana as weak boy who suffered at one time from Polio, and as you know my Friend the Destiny of each one of us always begin in different ways. And the things that happen to you that you Curse GOD For, are the very things that your Higher Self And GOD had agreed upon that would occur in this Lower Physical Dimension. To continue, his Doctor had told him he needs to build up his legs and should start Jumping around a bit. And needless to say that he developed one of the strongest set of legs at that time through his persistent Jumping around. He then went to College and became Captain of the Track Team, and at 26 years old and on July 16 1900 after entering in the Olympic Games He won 3 Gold Medals in the Standing Long Jump, The Standing High Jump, the Standing Hop and the Step N Jump. Now 4 years later, at the 1904 Olympics, Standing at 6 feet 3 inches, he Took 3 more Gold Medals. After that in 1906, 2 years later during a Special Olympics, He took 2 more Gold Medals. And Finally in 1908, during the regular Olympics,Mr. Ray Ewry received 2 more Gold Medals In the Standing Long and High Jumps. All for a Grand Total of 10 During His Career. So You see Folks, Don’t always read into things as soon as they happen to you. For everything as a purpose and if you focus on complaining, you will miss what Great Gifts the Universe is bringing for you. July 2012 will see the start of the biggest sporting event in living memory as East London welcomes the Olympic juggernaut and all the colour, excitement and drama that it entails. There is no doubt that the London Olympics will make an irreversible mark on the surrounding skyline, but what will the real sporting and social legacy be? Will we see the kind of urban and community regeneration promised by the bidding team, will the gyms in East London benefit, and is this even the right strategy to address the issues they claim to solve.
The London 2012 team believe that “world-class sports facilities will be adapted for use by sports clubs and the local community as well as elite athletes. New playing fields sitting alongside these facilities will be adapted for community use.” The link between participation in sport and social inclusion is well documented and has been adopted by the London Olympic team. What is less clear is the effectiveness of building multi-million pound, world class, sport facilities to achieve this noble goal. The aspiration is all well and good but are we really lacking quality sport facilities and gyms in East London, or is the real challenge more about getting people to use the facilities that already exist?
The Commonwealth Games in Manchester in 2002 certainly left an array of world class sporting facilities (and a free stadium for the mega-rich Manchester City FC…) but the stark reality is that much of the local community continue to feel separated and distant from the facilities on their door step. They choose not to engage in the belief that these facilities are beyond their reach financially. When asked why they don’t use the facilities the response is generally ‘too expensive’ but if you ask them how much the facilities cost to use they genuinely don’t know. There is a real danger that the same thing will happen with the Olympics and the new sport facilities and gyms in East London will ultimately be abandoned and unused.
When you think of a ‘legacy’ you must surely be entitled to expect something more worthy than a few nice new buildings, a line of trees and less potholes. A real legacy is not about the infrastructure and architecture, it should be about the people in the community. A global event like the Olympics should not be required for a Government to address a local issue. We are in danger of obsessing about the perceived ‘silver bullet’ that magically addresses our rising obesity levels, reduces crime, gets kids into sport and makes the area look just a bit nicer for tourists. Instead of the ‘quick fix’, more time should be spent on inspiring local businesses to create compelling and commercial opportunities that genuinely get more people involved in sport and use the facilities like the gyms in East London that are already in place.
One company in London that has tried to do this is PayasUgym which is a web-based service that lets people use a variety of gyms in East London on a pay-as-you-go basis at a discounted rate.
If you believe that sport can be used to engage communities and regenerate an area, as suggested by a plethora of social studies and articles, then surely using what we already have in place offers a far better solution than the vision offered by the spin doctors tasked with securing a commercial phenomenon like the Olympic Games for London.
There are many out there who are happy to talk negatively about the 2012 Olympics in London. Many despise the amount that it costs to stage it. Do they really believe that the only benefits of the games will be the simple fact of staging them for two weeks? I admit that if there are risks to empty arenas and a poor legacy, but this does not have to be the case.
There are so many positives that can come out of getting the Olympics. We may think that the costs were a small price to pay. Tourism will increase dramatically over the period the games runs. Tourists from all over the world will purchase products and services, and spend a great deal of money. This could be a great point to advertise various products and brands to make sure that the global interest carries on after the games has finished. Television cameras and news teams will flood London. Again this is priceless advertising. What a great opportunity to promote services, products and also encourage tourism to the Uk. A successful haul of medals will also inspire a whole generation of children to take sports a lot more seriously. This is invaluable. There is a huge obesity problem with the younger generation, as well as problems with drugs, alcohol, and in many parts of the country, boredom. Promoting exercise and sport together with healthier lifestyles, could help our children adopt healthier lifestyles. Of course promoting this would have to carry on after the Olympic games have finished, but the various initiatives would get an enormous push in the right direction. The simple fact that a country, in 2012 it will be the Uk, can stage an efficient and successful games gives a very positive impression to the world. What businesses wouldn’t like to have an impressive accomplishment on their cv? Why should a country not wish to show off its ability to stage great events well?
I accept that spending billions, especially at a time of serious financial hardship, is something that will not attract a great deal of negative response. The way I look at it is, the Olympics gives us a huge shop floor with which to promote ourselves, and any products or services we can think of pushing out to the big wide world. We could have spent the money on schools, hospitals and welfare payments. All of these ideas would in no way be seen to be wasteful. But why can we not view the Olympics as an investment, and work towards making it a successful one. I agree if we are just looking to stage some athletics, then spending billions of pounds is not defensible. However, if as a country we look on the Olympic games as a way of stimulating our economy, in as many ways as is thinkable, and maximising all possible entrepreneurial avenues, will it not be worth it? Socially too can we not let the games kick start a more health concious and sports friendly future for our youth? Doctors and hospitals in the future may wish we inspired a few more young people to exercise, if we choose to mock and moan about what could well be a fantastic opportunity in 2012. It would also be nice to win lots of medals to give the population a spring in its step.
