Brighton Eclipse goes undefeated to win National Indoor Championships!

This
weekend the 99 Brighton Eclipse competed in the National Indoor Championship
Tournament in Novi, MI at Total Sports Facility.
This was the next step for the team after winning the Indoor Regionals
back
in December. Eight teams advanced to the Nationals in the U9 Girls division
to compete in a very intense
tournament weekend.
The weekend began with a morning 5-0 Victory against Waza. Their second
game came
late last night against the Kingdom Reserves of Kalamazoo, MI. This was
as tough of a battle the
girls could face. Brighton took a quick 1-0 lead in the first few minutes
to begin a 40 minute physical
battle against a determined team. With total team effort, Brighton prevailed
with a 1-0 victory.
However, they now faced an early Sunday morning game against the Ohio
ESSL Arsenals.
(Knowing that the ESSL Arsenal and Kingdom Reserves tied their Sat. game
5-5, the girls and Coaches
knew they were in for another battle). The winner of the next game would
advance to the Finals.
The girls made everyone proud with an amazing early morning win of 10-3!
Undefeated and winning their bracket, Brighton was up against the winner
of bracket two-(also Undefeated)
Gross Pointe Breakers in the Championship game Sunday afternoon.
After only minutes on the field it was clear that both teams showed up
to win! The game
couldn't have been closer at any point with each team scoring and matching
goal for goal.
With about 5 minutes to go in the final game Brighton tied it 4-4. Just
minutes later Brighton
scored 2 more to cinch a 6-4 victory for the tournament. It was a true
team effort to the very end.
Congratulations and thanks girls for a wonderful weekend!
